22 Inches High x 22 Inches Wide x 4 Inches Deep
Part of the Andrew W. Mellon collection in the National Gallery of Art. The original is a lovely glazed terracotta created using a technique that was developed by Andrea’s uncle Luca in the 1430s and 1440s. The piece is very tender and at the same time solemn, as the Virgin and the Child seem to contemplate on the coming Passion and death of Christ.
